Position Overview

The Insulation Metal Mechanic will work mostly outdoors in industrial environments, performing tasks such as fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal products. Tasks include measuring, cutting, bending, welding, and soldering metal sheets to create structures, components, or systems.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products.
• Use hand tools safely.
• Weld various metals using electric, gas, arc, etc.
• Inspect angles, gap allowances, and use precision measuring instruments.
• Use grinders, hand files, or other tools to finish work pieces.
• Cut materials to size for proper fit and quality of welds.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Knowledge of various metal applications.
• Ability to operate scissor & boom lifts.
• Gather the correct tools needed for tasks.
• Strong math skills, including basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to perform layouts for applications like elbows, 45's, 90's, gores, heads, T's, tanks, vessels, and cones.
• Good hand-eye coordination for tight fits.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work.

• Follow directions from supervisors and clarify responsibilities if needed.
• Respect self, co-workers, managers, clients, and other contractors.
• Be adaptable and willing to learn new skills.
• Be punctual and work independently.

Physical Abilities

• Lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 lbs.
• Climb ladders and stairways regularly.
• Maintain alertness for safety.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and perform inspections safely.

Training

• Provide proof of OSHA 10-hour completion within 60 days of starting.
