Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to design and implement advanced control systems for complex manufacturing facilities. You will lead instrumentation, automation, and safety system engineering in high-tech environments.

You will develop P&IDs, wire diagrams, and SOO documents, while ensuring compliance with NFPA 70 and UL 508A. The role emphasizes collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and client engagement in a global setting.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor's in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
• EIT certification.
• 6+ years in industrial control systems engineering and design.
• Working knowledge of PLC systems, industrial networks, cybersecurity, motor control and power distribution.
• Experience designing PLC-based systems (Allen-Bradley, Schneider/Schneider Electric, Modicon, Siemens).
• Understanding of NFPA 70 and UL 508A codes and standards.
• Strong communication, organization, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Participate in development of proposals, budgets, and schedules for process-specific work.
• Design facility control systems, including fire alarm systems, chemical controls, Toxic Gas Monitoring (TGM), and SCADA.
• Develop P&IDs, loop drawings, and detailed wiring diagrams.
• Perform sizing and selection of instruments, control devices, and valves, including data sheets.
• Review vendor submittals and design deliverables for client requirements and codes.
• Initiate and develop Sequence of Operation (SOO) documents.
• Participate in technical and business presentations with clients and internal teams.
