Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks a Level 3 Electrical/Instrumentation Engineer at the Van Horn, TX site to advance test stand instrumentation, DAQ systems, and PLC controls. You will lead projects, mentor technicians, and design electrical panels while ensuring safe, reliable test operations. Travel up to 50% is expected, with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.

The role requires a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and 5–10 years’ experience with CAD-based schematics, panel layouts, and PLC

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5–10 years in electrical schematic and panel layout design using CAD tools.
  • 5–10 years PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley or Siemens).
  • Experience integrating instrumentation with data acquisition hardware.
  • Proficiency with electrical diagnostic equipment.
  • Familiarity with industrial sensors and actuators.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication; ownership mindset.
  • U.S. citizen/national or eligible permanent resident.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new tools, act as SME for projects, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Provide technical support for instrumentation on test stands and update harness/interface drawings.
  • Design, upgrade PLC programs for test stands.
  • Design electrical panels for new instrumentation at facilities.
  • Maintain and upgrade data acquisition systems and troubleshoot DAQ hardware.
  • Coordinate instrumentation, data, and controls system integration at test stands.
  • Perform tasks to ensure safe, efficient test operations and data collection.
  • Identify continuous improvements for safety, speed, and cost savings.
