Job summary

City of Oxnard is seeking an Instrumentation & Control Technician for the Wastewater Division to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair SCADA and process instrumentation across treatment plants.

Responsibilities include configuring PLC/HMI systems, performing preventive maintenance, reading schematics, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Must have a HS diploma and CWEA cert within 18 months; valid CA driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent
• 3 years progressive experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, electronics and instrumentation in wastewater facilities, including 2 years journey-level
• Valid CA Class C Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record
• CWEA Grade I Electrical Instrumentation Technician Certification within 18 months
• Must communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair process instrumentation (flow meters, sensors, analyzers) and SCADA/HMI/telemetry systems.
• Configure and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, SCADA; perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, schematics, wiring diagrams; support installation and commissioning.
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance, contractors; ensure regulatory compliance and records in EAM.
• Install and service CCTV and related monitoring equipment as needed.
