Job summary

The City of Oxnard's Wastewater Division is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Wastewater Treatment Plant Electrician to join our maintenance team. This on-site role is essential to keeping the City's wastewater facilities and collection systems operational and safe.

The ideal candidate will have four years of journey-level industrial electrical maintenance experience, NEC knowledge, and the ability to read schematics.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Four years journey-level industrial electrical maintenance experience.
• Valid California Class C Driver’s License with satisfactory record.
• Obtain CWEA Electrical & Instrumentation Technologist certification within 18 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on industrial electrical systems.
• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain MCCs, VFDs, switchgear, and related equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints and manuals.
• Install conduit, pull and terminate conductors per codes and standards.
• Diagnose electrical failures with testing equipment and implement corrective actions.
• Perform electrical maintenance at wastewater plants, lift stations, and pump sites.
• Coordinate maintenance with Operations and Maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Maintain maintenance records in the City's EAM system.
• Assist planning, testing, commissioning, and startup of CIP electrical work.
• Inspect and service generators, ATS, and emergency power distribution systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures (LOTO, arc flash, etc.).
• Participate in on-call and emergency response as required.
