Job summary
Dyno Nobel is seeking an Instrumentation and Control Technician to monitor and maintain DeltaV control systems, perform firmware updates, and keep virus protection updated. The role supports aging systems, upgrades, and security, with a focus on reliability and smooth plant operations.
You will work with E&I teams, optimize preventive maintenance, and contribute to reducing unplanned downtime in a manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Engineering, Automation, or related field.
- 5+ years in industrial automation or control systems.
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or chemical plants.
- Experience with DCS/PLC systems.
- Experience with DeltaV or Rockwell ControlLogix.
- Experience configuring HMI systems.
- Knowledge of ISA 84 / IEC 61511.
- Experience with SQL Server or MS Access.
- Knowledge of industrial networking.
- Positive attitude and team orientation.
Responsibilities
- Perform firmware updates and lifecycle management for DeltaV hardware.
- Perform OS upgrades, patches, and fixes for DeltaV systems.
- Manage network security and control system configurations.
- Configure and maintain alarm attributes and logging systems.
- Develop control loop specifications and document strategies (SAMA or logic diagrams).
- Monitor and improve control loop performance using appropriate tools.
- Collaborate with E&I to optimize preventive maintenance and minimize downtime.

- Perform firmware updates and lifecycle management for DeltaV control system hardware
- Support legacy system maintenance and upgrade planning
- Perform operating system upgrades, service packs, patches, and fixes
- Maintain virus protection and system security updates
- Maintain network security and user management
- Maintain control system configuration libraries and standards
- Configure and maintain alarm attributes and logging systems
- Support alarm rationalization and system reliability
- Develop and maintain control loop functional specifications
- Prepare control strategy documentation and loop drawings using SAMA diagrams or logic block diagrams
- Monitor and improve control loop performance
- Utilize tools such as Emerson Insight to detect performance degradation and optimize loop performance
- Partner with E&I technicians to develop and optimize preventive maintenance programs
- Use monitoring tools such as ValveLink to support outage planning and reduce unplanned downtime
- Associate’s degree in Engineering, Automation, Electrical Technology, or related field
- OR
- 5+ years of experience in industrial automation or control systems
- Experience working in an industrial, manufacturing, or chemical plant environment
- Experience supporting Distributed Control Systems (DCS) or PLC systems
- Experience with DeltaV or Rockwell Automation ControlLogix
- Experience configuring HMI systems
- Knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems (ISA 84 / IEC 61511)
- Experience with SQL Server, MS Access, or industrial databases
- Knowledge of industrial networking
