Job summary

Dyno Nobel is hiring for a seasoned Automation/Control Systems specialist in Louisiana, MO. This role focuses on DeltaV hardware and software, PLC/DCS support, and control loop optimization in an industrial setting.

You will work with E&I teams to maintain security, safety, and reliability across the control system landscape. The candidate should have 5+ years in automation, experience with DeltaV or Rockwell, and strong HMI, networking, and ISA IEC 61511 knowledge.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Engineering, Automation, Electrical Technology, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in industrial automation or control systems.
• Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or chemical plant environments.
• Experience supporting DCS or PLC systems.
• Experience with DeltaV or Rockwell ControlLogix.
• Experience configuring HMI systems.
• Knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems (ISA 84 / IEC 61511).
• Experience with SQL Server, MS Access, or industrial databases.
• Knowledge of industrial networking.
• Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player.

Responsibilities

• Perform firmware updates and lifecycle management for DeltaV control system hardware.
• Support legacy system maintenance and upgrade planning.
• Perform operating system upgrades, service packs, patches, and fixes.
• Maintain virus protection and system security updates.
• Maintain network security and user management.
• Maintain control system configuration libraries and standards.
• Configure and maintain alarm attributes and logging systems.
• Support alarm rationalization and system reliability.
• Develop and maintain control loop functional specifications.
• Prepare control strategy documentation and loop drawings using SAMA diagrams or logic block diagrams.
• Monitor and improve control loop performance.
• Utilize Emerson Insight to detect performance degradation and optimize loop performance.
• Partner with E&I technicians to develop and optimize preventive maintenance programs.
• Use ValveLink to support outage planning and reduce unplanned downtime.

What You’ll Do

DeltaV System Hardware

• Perform firmware updates and lifecycle management for DeltaV control system hardware

Control System Performance

• Utilize tools such as Emerson Insight to detect performance degradation and optimize loop performance

Instrumentation & Reliability

• Partner with E&I technicians to develop and optimize preventive maintenance programs
• Use monitoring tools such as ValveLink to support outage planning and reduce unplanned downtime

What We’re Looking For:

• Associate’s degree in Engineering, Automation, Electrical Technology, or related field

• 5+ years of experience in industrial automation or control systems
• Experience working in an industrial, manufacturing, or chemical plant environment
• Experience supporting Distributed Control Systems (DCS) or PLC systems
• Experience with DeltaV or Rockwell Automation ControlLogix
• Experience configuring HMI systems
• Knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems (ISA 84 / IEC 61511)
• Experience with SQL Server, MS Access, or industrial databases
• Knowledge of industrial networking
• Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
