Job summary

Dyno Nobel, Inc. is seeking an Instrumentation and Control Technician to monitor and maintain DeltaV control systems, perform firmware updates, and manage lifecycle hardware. The role supports legacy systems and security updates in a heavy industrial environment.

The position requires 5+ years in industrial automation, experience with DCS/PLC systems, DeltaV or Rockwell controls, and HMI configuration, with a commitment to safety and reliability in processing plants in Missouri.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Engineering, Automation, Electrical Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial automation or control systems.
  • Experience working in an industrial, manufacturing, or chemical plant environment.
  • Experience supporting Distributed Control Systems (DCS) or PLC systems.
  • Experience with DeltaV or Rockwell Automation ControlLogix.
  • Experience configuring HMI systems.
  • Knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems (ISA 84 / IEC 61511).
  • Experience with SQL Server, MS Access, or industrial databases.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking.
  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player.

Responsibilities

  • DeltaV System Hardware: Perform firmware updates and lifecycle management for DeltaV control system hardware.
  • DeltaV System Software: Perform OS upgrades, service packs, patches, and fixes; maintain virus protection.
  • Application & Control System Management: Maintain network security and user management; maintain configuration libraries.
  • Alarm Management: Configure and maintain alarm attributes and logging systems; support alarm rationalization and system reliability.
  • Control Loop Tuning: Develop and maintain control loop functional specifications; prepare control strategy documentation and loop drawings.
  • Control System Performance: Monitor and improve control loop performance; use Emerson Insight to detect degradation and optimize loops.
  • Instrumentation & Reliability: Partner with E&I technicians to develop preventive maintenance programs; use ValveLink to support outage planning.
  • Work Environment: Industrial, manufacturing, or chemical plant setting.

Job Brief

As the Instrumentation and Control Technician, you will consistently monitor and provide maintenance of the Control systems to ensure continued reliable operation. You will complete regular firmware updates and update virus protection software.

*This position is located in Louisiana, Missouri (About 40 minutes from Troy, Missouri*)

What You'll Do
DeltaV System Hardware
  • Perform firmware updates and lifecycle management for DeltaV control system hardware
  • Support legacy system maintenance and upgrade planning
DeltaV System Software
  • Perform operating system upgrades, service packs, patches, and fixes
  • Maintain virus protection and system security updates
Application & Control System Management
  • Maintain network security and user management
  • Maintain control system configuration libraries and standards
Alarm Management
  • Configure and maintain alarm attributes and logging systems
  • Support alarm rationalization and system reliability
Control Loop Tuning
  • Develop and maintain control loop functional specifications
  • Prepare control strategy documentation and loop drawings using SAMA diagrams or logic block diagrams
Control System Performance
  • Monitor and improve control loop performance
  • Utilize tools such as Emerson Insight to detect performance degradation and optimize loop performance
Instrumentation & Reliability
  • Partner with E&I technicians to develop and optimize preventive maintenance programs
  • Use monitoring tools such as ValveLink to support outage planning and reduce unplanned downtime
What We're Looking For:
  • Associate's degree in Engineering, Automation, Electrical Technology, or related field
    • OR
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial automation or control systems
  • Experience working in an industrial, manufacturing, or chemical plant environment
  • Experience supporting Distributed Control Systems (DCS) or PLC systems
  • Experience with DeltaV or Rockwell Automation ControlLogix
  • Experience configuring HMI systems
