Job summary

Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College is seeking an Instructor for Social & Human Services to teach and advise students pursuing the AAS in Social and Human Services, Mental Health Studies Certificate, and Addiction and Recovery Certificate.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Human Services or related field.
• Two years of full-time or equivalent teaching experience in higher education.
• MSW preferred; three years teaching experience in higher education; five years industry-related experience.
• Experience teaching at a community college; experience with Learning Management Systems is a plus.

Job Description Summary

Duties

• Maintains mastery of subject matter.
• Develops and/or teaches courses for which the appropriate credential is held.
• Teaches in various formats, mostly face-to-face, various locations (including Western Correctional Center for Women) and A-B Tech Madison, and via various delivery methods.
• Adheres to policies, procedures, expectations, and practices of the College, the department, and discipline.
• Communicates clearly with students, other faculty, and staff.
• Contributes to a safe and secure campus environment.
• Enforces College policies and procedures
• Assists with program reviews, program accreditation, and SACSCOC accreditation as appropriate.
• Attends meetings and events and actively participate on committees and taskforces.
• Attends the annual commencement ceremony.
• Supports the College’s Mission, Vision, Values and RISE Statements.
• Establishes or upholds learning outcomes that are relevant and meaningful.
• Evaluates student progress in a fair, consistent, and timely manner.
• Develops, prepares, and/or delivers all levels of curriculum courses.
• Completes required professional development annually.

Minimum Requirements (Applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements)

• Master’s Degree in Human Services, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Therapeutic Recreation, Mental Health, Addictions, Public Administration, Public Health.
• Two years of full-time or equivalent teaching experience in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work ( MSW )
• Three years full-time or equivalent teaching experience in higher education.
• Five years of full-time or equivalent industry related experience.
• Experience teaching at a community college.
• Experience with Learning Management Systems.
• Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.

Your total compensation goes beyond this maximum salary. Your A-B Tech benefits represent nearly 30% of your total compensation. The total compensation for this position includes an 26.1% employer contribution to a defined pension plan, contributions towards medical and dental policies and fully funded life insurance / accidental death & dismemberment policy.
