Job summary

Wake Tech Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time, temporary faculty to teach in the Community and Career Education Division. Instructors may teach a wide variety of personal interest and community enrichment topics.

Subject matter can include, but is not limited to, public speaking, writing, photography, dog grooming, investing, floral design, gardening, real estate, translation/interpreting, and arts and crafts.

Qualifications

  • Education and experience requirements vary by subject area.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares instruction that reflects appropriate learning objectives
  • Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
  • Uses formative and simulative assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
  • Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction
  • Maintains communication with course committee instructors and participates in instructional discussions
  • Remains up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
  • Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
  • Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
  • Supports the Department, Division, and College goals, providing requesting data in a timely manner

Job description

Wake Tech Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time, temporary faculty to teach in various courses in the Community and Career Education Division.

Courses taught in this department include a wide variety of personal interest and community enrichment topics. Subject matter may include but is not limited to the following: public speaking, writing, photography, dog grooming, investing, floral design, gardening, real estate, auctioneering, translation/interpreting, and arts and crafts such as painting, drawing, and crocheting.

Please be specific about your area(s) of expertise and the subject matter you feel qualified to teach when you fill out the OBJECTIVE portion of the application and please feel free to suggest a topic that you don’t see listed here.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with and maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors and staff
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products
