Job summary

Wake Technical Community College is seeking adjunct History faculty to teach courses on a part-time, temporary basis. Openings may or may not be available at this time; however, after qualification review, applicants may be contacted in the future.

The role requires delivering quality instruction, maintaining records, and engaging students. Experience with MS Office and familiarity with Blackboard LMS are preferred. Transcripts must be provided with the application for interview consideration.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in History or a Master's degree with 18 graduate level hours in History.
  • College transcripts uploaded with your application or submitted to the HR office prior to consideration.
  • Experience or familiarity with teaching in a college setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance.
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour.
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment.
  • Grades and returns student work in a timely manner.
  • Counsels students regarding their grades and progress.
  • Constructs classroom materials that support the course goals.
  • Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction.
  • Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching.
  • Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions to keep courses up-to-date.
  • Stays abreast of current teaching methods and technology in the classroom.
  • Attends professional development opportunities when possible.

Job description

Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time faculty to teach History classes. Openings for these positions may or may not be available at this time; however, after a review of qualifications, applicants may be contacted in the future. Adjunct faculty positions provide quality, effective instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis.

  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationship with students, peers, supervisors and staff
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products
  • Knowledge of Blackboard (an online Learning Management System) is preferred
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in History OR a Master's degree with 18 graduate level hours in History
  • College transcripts must be uploaded with your application or submitted to the HR office prior to consideration for interview.
Preferences:
  • Community College teaching experience
  • Experience teaching World History or American HistorySeated teaching experience
