Wake Technical Community College seeks a Biotechnology instructor to teach primarily BioWork and related courses at the Eastern Wake or Southern Wake campuses. The role includes curriculum development, student tutoring, grading, and lab-based learning experiences, with occasional virtual instruction via Blackboard/Canvas.
The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in a related field; Master’s degree preferred and teaching experience in biotechnology or related fields.

*Instructs courses in the Biotechnology department in an efficient and effective manner. Courses are predominately BioWork and continuing education but could also include coursework in the Biotechnology AAS degree programs, and industry training. All courses include training materials in career development, such as resume writing, interviewing skills, career fair preparation. The position will be mainly on the Eastern Wake or Southern Wake Campuses. Courses are a variety of offerings, including morning, afternoon, evening and weekend classes, depending on student demand. Instructor schedules are set each semester at the discretion of the division.
*Works with various entities, such as the NC BioNetwork and NC Biotechnology Center, to develop course materials relevant to current trends in the region. Participates and helps coordinate regional career fairs and events that promote hiring of students.
*Tutors students who need assistance learning biotechnology concepts
*Completes administrative responsibilities, such as grading, taking attendance, testing, coursework development, counseling students, creating syllabi, etc.
*Uses a variety of instructional delivery methods and theory to create high-quality learning experiences for students*Creates and maintains lab environments and activities that enhance learning for students
*Learns and uses virtual platforms, such as Blackboard and Canvas regularly and conducts virtual instruction as required
Maintains regular office hours, scheduling time with students as needed
Serves on college or department committees as needed
Maintains professional certifications and seeks out opportunities for development
Participates in graduation exercises, open house events, and ceremonies as requested
Supports coordination of biotechnology division events as needed
Ability to be innovative, creative, and motivated
Exhibits good interpersonal skills and work well with others
Able to meet deadlines consistently
Demonstrates good organizational skills
Able to perform normal duties with minimal supervision
Communicates effectively, both written and verbal

Understands the fundamentals of cGMP and industrial safety
Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Industrial Technology, Engineering, Business Administration or related discipline
Experience working in a biotechnology, bioagriculture, biopharmaceutical or biomanufacturing environment where following SOPs, cGMP, GLP is required.
Master's degree in related discipline
Teaching or training experience in biotechnology or related fields
Experience with technology and software, including computers and web-based resources, such as BlackBoard and Canvas as well as laboratory or production software systems
