Job summary

Baton Rouge Community College invites applications for a faculty position in American Sign Language Studies. Duties and Responsibilities:
Job Specification:
  • Teach the equivalent of five (5) courses per semester (fall andspring)

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree in one of the following or a closely related field:

  • American Sign Language
  • Linguistics
  • Sign Language Studies
  • Sign Language Education
  • Interpreter Education
  • Deaf Education
  • Deaf Culture
One of the following credentials:
  • Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) from the Registry of Interpretersfor the Deaf (RID)
  • National Interpreter Certification (NIC) from RID
  • Certification from the American Sign Language Teachers Association(ASLTA)
  • Or an equivalent recognized certification
Preferred Education:

Master’s degree in one of the following or a closely related field:

  • American Sign Language
  • Linguistics
  • Sign Language Studies
  • Sign Language Education
  • Interpreter Education
  • Deaf Education
  • Deaf Culture

Minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching American SignLanguage at the college or university level.
