Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College seeks an Instructor for Adult Basic Education (ABE) Project Search to plan and facilitate lessons that develop students’ workplace readiness, social skills, and increasing independence.
You will focus on employment exploration, job applications, interviewing skills, and soft skills, and you will implement lessons, maintain communications with students and staff, and track records.

Job Description Summary
Plan and facilitate lessons for Project Search using the Adult Education Content Standards. Focus on developing students’ work force and social skills and supporting their ability to function in the following context with increasing independence:
• Employment – career exploration, job applications, interviewing skills, soft skills, etc.
Duties
1. Implement lessons designed to help students develop workplace readiness skills and strategies.
2. Maintain communications with students, administrators, and other staff.
3. Maintain student records related to the course.
4. Support overall needs of students related to enrollment, persistence, and completion.
1. Bachelor’s degree;
2. Demonstrated experience in working with young adults with intelletual and developmental disabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Certification and/or, bachelor’s degree
2. Background in occupational therapy, music/art therapy, music/art education, home economics, vocational rehabilitation, supported employment, etc.
