Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking an Academic Instructor to teach in a classroom environment, delivering adult basic education, English language development, and basic subjects such as reading, mathematics, and language arts.

You'll cover career planning, social adjustment, and life skills, while supporting inmate education and progression. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, a state teaching certificate, and prior teaching experience; documentation and records must be maintained for student

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
• Two years of relevant teaching experience preferred.
• Valid teaching certificate from the state Department of Education or comparable authority required.

Responsibilities

• Teach career planning, social adjustment, and general life skills courses.
• Instruct conversational English, as well as local ideas and customs to students with limited English proficiency.
• Maintain records including testing, daily inmate/detainee work, and attendance.
• Evaluate and ensure inmate/detainee academic progress.
• Provide individual tutoring.
