Job summary

GEO Corrections & Detentions is seeking an Academic Instructor to teach adult basic education, English language development, and related subjects in a correctional setting. You will educate diverse students and help them progress in reading, math, and language arts.

The role emphasizes classroom instruction, record-keeping, and individualized tutoring to support inmate education and reentry goals. Florida location; on-site position with relevant certifications required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
• Two (2) years of relevant teaching experience preferred.
• Valid teaching certificate from the state Department of Education or comparable authority required.

Responsibilities

• Teach career planning, social adjustment, and general life skills courses.
• Instruct conversational English, as well as local ideas and customs to students with limited English proficiency.
• Maintain records including testing, daily inmate/detainee work, and attendance.
• Evaluate and ensure inmate/detainee academic progress.
• Provide individual tutoring.

Minimum Requirements:
