Job summary

Wake Tech in Raleigh, NC seeks an Economics instructor to provide effective instruction for assigned courses and contribute to curriculum and student success.

The position offers 9-month or 12-month contracts with salaries of $56,256 (9m) or $75,000 (12m); a Master’s in Economics (or related field with 18 graduate hours in Economics) is required, with post-secondary teaching experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Economics or a related field with 18 graduate semester hours in Economics.
• Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching methods to promote learning.
• Experience with post-secondary/ community college teaching preferred.

Responsibilities

• Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
• Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
• Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
• Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
• Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
• Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
• Constructs classroom materials that support the outcome of the course
• Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction
• Maintains regular office hours
• Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
• Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate
• Remains up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology
• Assists with Program and student learning outcomes for the course, selecting text and constructing a syllabus
• Attends professional development opportunities when possible
• Participate in graduation exercises
• Participates in graduation exercises, Open House, Career Fair and other Wake Tech events
• Serves on college or department committees as needed

This position is responsible for providing effective instruction for assigned courses.

This position has an option for 9m OR 12m.

Anticipated 9m Salary: $56,256

Anticipated 12m Salary: $75,000

Requirements
