Job summary

NSBSD is seeking a paraprofessional to assist teachers in creating a positive learning environment and to support the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. The position involves small-group instruction, tutoring, and assisting students with disabilities during the school day.

Eligible applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, with preference for an associate degree or two years of college or PAT.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or higher or two years of college with 48 credits preferred.
  • PAT passed or equivalent required.
  • Foreign degree requires transcript evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional and support assistance to teachers.
  • Instruct small groups of students.
  • Tutor students individually.
  • Assist with classroom management.
  • Work with assigned children with disabilities.
  • Support intensive level multiple disability students during the day.
  • Assist designated students with personal tasks including feeding and toileting.
  • Conduct activities to engage parents and guardians.
  • Prepare instructional materials and supplies for classroom use.
  • Supervise students on buses, in gym, and other areas as assigned.
