Job summary

NSBSD Pedagogy seeks a paraprofessional to support teachers and students in a dynamic learning environment in Alaska. You will assist with instruction, tutor individuals and small groups, and help manage classroom activities to foster student success.

Minimum education is a high school diploma; an Associate’s degree or PAT may be preferred. Bilingual and Inupiaq knowledge are valued, with potential for training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prefer an Associate’s Degree or higher from regionally accredited institution; or two years (48 semester hours) from regionally accredited institution; or PAT passed.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional and support assistance to teachers.
• Instruct small groups of students.
• Tutor students individually.
• Assist with classroom management.
• Work with assigned children with disabilities.
• Support students with physical tasks and personal hygiene as needed.
• Prepare instructional materials and supplies for classroom use.
• Supervise students in various locations (bus, gym, hallways).
• Report accidents or inappropriate behavior immediately.
