Job summary

Finezi Inc. in the Livermore/San Ramon area is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to join the PG&E Academy team to develop and enhance technical training curriculum. This role focuses on apprenticeship curriculum, ILT design, Storyline/WBT development, and collaboration with SMEs.

Strong task analysis and clear content are required. This is a contract role with travel to Livermore or San Ramon as needed, and a W2 rate of $60–$72/hr.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in ILT, eLearning, or virtual training in technical settings.
• Strong instructional design and adult learning theory knowledge.
• Hands-on experience with Articulate Storyline required.
• Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Senior Instructional Designers and SMEs to design and develop technical training programs.
• Define learning objectives, course structure, content, activities, and assessments.
• Perform detailed task analysis and evaluate content, processes, systems, and target audiences.
• Develop ILT and eLearning/WBT materials using established company standards, templates, and guidelines.
• Create: PowerPoint training presentations; Storyline-based WBTs; student and facilitator guides; activities and exercises; scenarios and assessments; instructional graphics and interactive experiences.
• Write clear, concise instructional and facilitator content appropriate for the target audience.
• Conduct virtual and in-person working sessions with SMEs to gather and validate technical content.
• Participate in task analysis, alpha, beta, and content validation sessions.
• Review and incorporate SME and stakeholder feedback.
• Manage assigned projects, timelines, and deliverables independently.
• Travel to San Ramon and/or Livermore for meetings and training development activities as required.

Onsite: Livermore or San Ramon as needed; approximately monthly travel to San Ramon

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to join the PG&E Academy team and support the development and enhancement of technical training curriculum.

This role will focus on developing curriculum for an apprenticeship program as responsibilities and job duties expand. The ideal candidate will have strong Instruction-Led Training (ILT) design experience, hands‑on Storyline/WBT development, excellent task analysis skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multiple Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).

The successful candidate will be a creative, detail‑oriented self‑starter who can manage multiple deliverables, incorporate feedback quickly, and work independently while maintaining regular communication with the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with Senior Instructional Designers and SMEs to design and develop technical training programs.

• Hands-on experience with Articulate Storyline — required.
• Strong Task Analysis experience.
• Strong ILT design and curriculum development experience.
• Experience with technical writing and developing technical training content.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
• Ability to collaborate with multiple SMEs and technical stakeholders.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple development efforts and shifting priorities.
• Self-directed, detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable working in a high-performing team.

Candidate Location Requirement

Local Bay Area candidates only. Candidates should currently reside in the Bay Area or near Livermore, CA and must be able to attend onsite meetings in Livermore or San Ramon when required.

Ideal Candidate:

Instructional Designer with 4+ years of technical training development, strong ILT and task analysis experience, and advanced Storyline/WBT development skills, preferably with utility, safety, apprenticeship, or technical workforce training experience.
