Job summary

Spectraforce Technologies is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to design, develop, and update technical training within the client Academy. The role focuses on one Apprenticeship, building out curricula to meet expanded duties, with close SME collaboration and strong ILT/WBT delivery.

The position requires proficiency in Storyline, advanced PowerPoint and Word skills, and excellent task analysis capabilities, working hybrid with on-site needs in Livermore/San Ramon, CA, with travel

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in instructor-led, eLearning, or virtual training in a technical environment.
• Experience collaborating with SMEs and multiple stakeholder groups.
• Proficient with Storyline and strong PowerPoint/Word skills.
• Solid understanding of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies.
• Ability to perform detailed task analysis and translate it into instructional content.

Responsibilities

• Partner with SID and SMEs to design and structure training content.
• Define learning objectives, course structure, content, and assessments.
• Analyze existing content and tasks for target audience and business process.
• Develop learning materials (PPTs, WBTs, guides, activities, scenarios, assessments).
• Create instructional graphics, scenarios, and interactions.
• Lead meetings with SMEs, validate content, and manage deliverables and deadlines.

Instructional Designer, Training Curriculum Dev

Location: Livermore, CA 94550

Duration: 3+ months (Through the end of 2026, with potential for the right candidate to extend the contract into 2027)

(Hybrid- mainly remote, but will be required to go on-site in Livermore or San Ramon when needed)

Description:

• We are looking for an Instructional Designer (ID) who loves to design, develop, and update technical training courses!
• Working within the client's Academy, this position is on a team that supports clients in multiple functional areas within the client, but will focus on one Apprenticeship, helping build out their curriculum to match new expanded duties.
• Are you a heads-down self-starter who would enjoy daily check-ins so we can help make sure you have everything you need?
• Are you comfortable working with many SMEs in different subject areas and able to learn "how we do it" at the client to hit the ground running?
• The successful applicant will have strong ILT design skills and experience building WBTs using Storyline. You should be a creative owner, detail-oriented, open to feedback, and able to pivot quickly.

Job Description:

• Partner with SID and SMEs to conceptualize training design and content.
• Define learning objectives, course structure, learning content, and assessments.
• Complete detailed analysis of existing content and each task to be trained/supported for target audience, business process, and systems.
• Follow company standards, guidelines, and templates to develop learning materials, including course PPT presentations, WBTs, student and facilitator course guides, activities, scenarios, and assessments. Create instructional graphics, scenarios, and interactions.
• Write clear and effective instruction and facilitator text appropriate for the target audience.
• Conduct in-person and virtual meetings with subject matter experts, including working sessions, task analysis, alpha, beta, and answer validation meetings. Northern California/San Francisco Bay Area with travel to San Ramon monthly plus additional meetings in San Ramon or Livermore, as needed.
• Engage with subject matter experts for ongoing content review and validation. Receive and incorporate feedback. Self-manage assigned tasks and deadlines to complete deliverables. Proactively communicate issues and risks.

Required Skills

• 4+ years of experience developing instructor-led, eLearning, or virtual training in a technical environment.
• Comfortable and capable working on a high performing team.
• Experience with technical writing.
• Strong knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies and technologies.
• Proficiency with Storyline required.
• Very strong Task Analysis knowledge and capability.
• Strong knowledge of PowerPoint and Word.
• Flexibility to work on simultaneous development efforts, as needed.
