Job summary

Wheaton College seeks an experienced Instructional Designer to provide leadership in instructional design, support online course design, and coach faculty through development and delivery. The role focuses on effective learning design, digital pedagogy, content creation, and assessment across online and hybrid formats.

Reporting to Library Services, the designer will promote WCAG accessibility, support AI-aware course design, and develop workshops and tutorials to help instructors implement best

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent required; preferred fields include Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum & Instruction or related field.
• 5–10 years of relevant work experience in instructional design in higher education.

Responsibilities

• Lead instructional design initiatives and establish online course standards for quality and accessibility.
• Coach faculty through course design, assessment, and review processes; provide one-on-one consultation.
• Guide adoption and optimization of LMS and related instructional technologies (Canvas, Studio, Yuja).
• Promote WCAG accessibility in Canvas courses and materials; support accessible content creation.
• Identify faculty development needs and plan training on current instructional technologies and AI integration.
• Engage in professional development and stay current with instructional design trends and tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
