Location: New York, NY (hybrid)

Type: Contract

Our direct client is seeking an Instructional Designer I for the Digital Training team. The Instructional Designer role is responsible for designing, developing, delivering, and maintaining highly effective and engaging learning content for new technology solutions. This role blends instructional design with direct training delivery to support enterprise initiatives, new system rollouts, and ongoing organizational learning needs. The individual will leverage adult learning principles, instructional design best practices, facilitation skills, and user readiness strategies to meet the needs of diverse audiences across multiple delivery methods, including virtual instructor-led sessions, onsite training, e-learning, videos, and other digitized content.

In addition to content development and delivery, this role supports organizational change from a learning and adoption perspective. The Instructional Designer partners closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate technical functionality into user-centered learning experiences, reinforce key messages within training materials, and prepare stakeholders to adopt new workflows and behaviors. This includes identifying readiness gaps, addressing common user concerns within training environments, and equipping SMEs to communicate clearly and consistently with their audiences. The role plays a critical function in enabling successful adoption through education, reinforcement, and practical application.

This role will help support upcoming technology training priorities in the next two quarters, including an ERP Launch and post-live support, ServiceNow, MagicOrange, AI Literacy, and AI Lifecycle Management. This role will be responsible for developing critical training resources (including Articulate Rise or Storyline courses, videos, and job aids), facilitating live training sessions, providing hands‑on learner support, and regularly meeting with project/product teams to ensure go‑live and post‑go‑live readiness.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Works largely independently against defined objectives.
  • Understands technical discussions and is able to actively contribute.
  • Makes the solution better through learner‑driven adoption support.
  • Operates at the subsystem level, understanding how training efforts connect to broader enterprise initiatives.
  • Designs and develops a variety of instructional materials, including guides, job aids, presentations, videos, e-learning modules, and other digital content.
  • Translates identified performance gaps and business needs into learning requirements and measurable learning objectives.
  • Selects appropriate instructional strategies to meet the needs of specialized audiences.
  • Conducts QA, establishes templates and governance standards, and maintains inventory of learning materials and shared team resources.
  • Uploads and maintains training materials in team repositories and the LMS as needed.
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Human Resources, IT, Organizational Development, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Two to four (2-4) years of experience working in instructional design, learning and development, or consulting environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
  • Knowledge of content authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, SnagIt, Captivate, Photoshop, Adobe Premier and/or Camtasia.
  • Ability to prepare content with clear, concise, compelling value.
  • Ability to apply adult learning theory principles and instructional design techniques to the creation of interactive eLearning and blended learning solutions.
  • Ability to incorporate multiple media elements and/or gamification in learning programs including audio, video, animation, simulation, and graphics.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with people across functional areas and levels of the organization.
  • Flexibility to prioritize and manage multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to define efficient processes and procedures
  • Experienced professional with deep knowledge and actionable experience (domain level) who works largely independently against defined objectives, contributes actively in team and technical conversations, understands product functionality, and makes solutions better through thoughtful, user-centered design and delivery that strengthens adoption outcomes.
  • Ability to express your position and opinions in a team conversation in an effective manner.
