Job summary

Sumitomo Electric in Troy, MI seeks an Instructional Design Specialist for a 3- to 4-month contract to design, develop, and deploy digital learning solutions. You will create SCORM modules, video content, and job aids integrated with Workday Learning and aligned to branding.

The ideal candidate combines instructional design expertise with strong project management, collaborates with SMEs and HR, and delivers polished learning experiences that scale with the organization.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred in Instructional Design, Education, HR, Organizational Development, Communications, or related field.
• Experience designing and developing eLearning content using instructional design methodologies.
• Experience creating SCORM-compliant learning content for LMS.
• Experience producing and editing video and audio learning content.
• Strong written communication skills with attention to detail and visuals.
• Working knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement online learning experiences using adult learning methodologies and best practices.
• Build a comprehensive internal certification program with structured learning paths and completion credentials.
• Partner with SMEs to capture processes and convert content into interactive training materials.
• Develop Just-in-Time learning resources, including SCORM modules, videos, job aids, and performance support materials.
• Manage a portfolio of learning projects across multiple functions (EHS, Manufacturing, LEAN, Legal, HR).
• Coordinate stakeholder meetings, reviews, approvals, and publication schedules.
• Produce content compatible with Workday Learning and maintain brand quality.
• Maintain project documentation and version control throughout the lifecycle.
