Assisting the assigned classroom teacher(s) in instructing and supervising students in a manner that will contribute towards their development as mature, able, and responsible students.

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear; frequent use of equipment including repetitive motions and computer eye fatigue; possible biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, lift and/or move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, small children (weights vary by classroom level), and other classroom equipment; may occasionally climb stairs or ladders. Must be able to sit on the floor, bend, and stoop to work with the children. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word: hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.
Normal classroom setting; part-time (10-month) position as determined by the needs of the program on a yearly basis. School working hours are 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Monday-Friday per the school calendar; no more than 29 hours per week. Biweekly pay period; $16 per hour. May be required to work outside normal hours to attend school-related events, meetings, and/or staff development. Potential opportunities for summer employment, but not guaranteed.
