Job summary

Under general supervision, an employee in this class performs routine cooking in the large production of meals at Suffolk County correctional facilities. Supervision is exercised over a number of inmates. Assignments follow set departmental policies and procedures, and menus are prepared by the Jail Head Cook.

Rotating schedule: 5 Days On, 3 Days Off, 5 Days On, 2 Days Off and work on Holidays. Target salary is $48,735 with no relocation or sponsorship offered at this time.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and six (6) months of experience in the preparation of food on a large scale.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine cooking in the large production of meals at Suffolk County correctional facilities.
• Oversees inmates in the preparation of food.
• Prepares and cooks food for a large number of correction personnel.
• Follows menus prepared by the Jail Head Cook.
