Job summary

The People’s Music School, Chicago’s oldest and largest completely free nonprofit music school, seeks an Institutional Giving Manager to lead grant development and manage a portfolio of funders. The role advances the organization’s fundraising strategy and ensures timely, high‑quality submissions and reporting.

Hybrid, full-time position with a $60k–$65k salary range, targeting a $1.9M institutional giving goal for FY27.

Qualifications

• 3-4 years experience in institutional fundraising and grant writing.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Deep understanding of nonprofit and philanthropic sectors.
• Excellent written communication; able to convey impact to institutional audiences.
• Familiarity with Salesforce Nonprofit CRM a plus.
• Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage grant calendar: plan submissions, gather info, implement feedback.
• Write grants and cases for support for foundations, corporations, and government programs.
• Build the institutional giving strategy with the Chief Development Officer to meet revenue goals.
• Manage funder relationships; support Leadership Team in cultivating new funders.
• Maintain fundraising records in Salesforce; build and track institutional pipeline and run reports.
• Conduct prospect research for new funding opportunities from foundations and corporations.
• Support the Development team with broader fundraising efforts, including gala planning.
• Other duties as assigned.
