Title: Installation Technician
Reporting to: Service Manager
Employment classification: Non-exempt / hourly
General Summary

The Installation Technician (I.T.) lives VIP’s mission to EARN AUTOMOTIVE CUSTOMERS FOR LIFE by learning and living the VIP culture and following VIP processes to ensure that customers get a different & better experience. An I.T. must work effectively and safely to ensure good communication, teamwork, and operation in serving customers. The I.T. is responsible for effective repair and replacement of automotive tires, parts, fluids, and accessories, ensuring these services are done right the first time. The I.T. is expected to comply with safety, loss prevention, customer service programs, policies, procedures, and regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prioritize workplace safety, follow all safety policies, complete safety training, and report unsafe conditions.
  • Provide automotive repair and maintenance services including Tire Services, Oil Changes, Under hood Services, Multi-point Vehicle Inspections, Wheel Alignments, and Preventive Maintenance.
  • Ensure a valid Service Work Order is initiated and displayed during service.
  • Complete MPI and actively support the 5-for-5 Customer Engagement Process.
  • Complete service documentation and return to the Service Desk.
  • Obtain parts from the Desk Team and return unused parts after service.
  • Handle cores, batteries, and used tires appropriately.
  • Maintain a minimum productivity of 50% over any 16-week period.
  • Follow VIP’s quality service policies and complete required training and certifications.
  • Participate in team meetings and safety programs.
  • Perform vehicle road tests post-service for safety.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and comply with safety and environmental regulations.
Performance Measurement
  • Maintain minimum 50% productivity (Billed Hours / Worked Hours).
  • Ensure minimal rework and returns.
Work Week
  • Standard 5-day, 40-hour workweek.
  • Arrive on time and work all scheduled hours.
Required Qualifications
  • Knowledge of automotive service procedures and ability to diagnose basic problems.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Minimum of one year experience in automotive service or related education.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • ASE certifications (G1, A4, A5) recommended; State Inspection License preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

Indoor service department with exposure to weather, chemicals, noise, and mechanical equipment. Physical activities include standing, reaching, walking, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and lifting up to 21 lbs or more.
