Title: Master Technician

Reporting to: Service Manager

Employment Classification: Non-exempt / hourly

General Summary

The Flat Rate Technician (Tech) lives VIP’s mission to EARN AUTOMOTIVE CUSTOMERS FOR LIFE by learning and living the VIP culture and following VIP processes to ensure that customers get a different & better experience. The Tech must work effectively and safely to ensure good communication, teamwork, and operation in serving customers. The Tech is responsible for diagnosing automotive systems, repairing and replacing automotive parts, fluids, tires, and accessories, ensuring services are done right the first time. The Tech is expected to comply with safety, loss prevention, customer service programs, policies, procedures, and regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prioritize workplace safety by following all safety policies, completing safety training, locking unsafe equipment, and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Provide diagnosis, repair, and maintenance services for automotive systems, including all systems covered by ASE certifications.
• Complete Service Work Orders and support customer engagement processes.
• Obtain parts from designated team members and return unused parts appropriately.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including shop equipment and facilities.
• Complete required training and certifications, including ASE certifications and state inspections.
• Participate in team meetings and support shop safety and maintenance programs.

Performance Measurement

• Maintain minimum productivity levels: Technician 80%, ASE Technician 90%, Master Technician 100%.
• Ensure work is completed correctly the first time to minimize callbacks.

Work Schedule

• Typically, 5 days a week, 40 hours per week.
• Be punctual and ready to work at scheduled times.

Qualifications

• One year of related automotive service experience.
• Completion of a two-year college or technical program preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• ASE certifications (G1, A4, A5) recommended; all eight A-Series certifications preferred for Master Technicians.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Work is performed indoors in a shop environment with exposure to weather, noise, chemicals, and mechanical equipment. Physical activities include lifting, reaching, standing, and other movements, with accommodations available as needed.
