Job summary

YMCA of Memphis & The Mid-South is seeking a part-time School Age Group Leader for before and after school and summer programs. The role focuses on implementing daily lesson plans, supervising 15–20 children, and supporting a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment under the Site Director.

You will help plan a quality curriculum, participate in trainings, and collaborate with staff to foster children’s social, physical, and emotional growth while upholding the YMCA’s core values and licensing

Qualifications

• Passion for YMCA mission and service to youth
• Ability to engage 15–20 children in structured activities
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills across diverse groups
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle multiple tasks
• Must complete state and school district background checks and fingerprint clearances
• Age 18+ and completion of required trainings
• Professional appearance and sound judgment in decision making
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work flexible hours

Responsibilities

• Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
• Lead and engage groups of 15–20 children inside or outside, during transitions
• Follow safety standards and risk management policies
• Assist in planning a quality curriculum meeting YMCA guidelines
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required
• Maintain supplies and inventory on site
• Monitor licensing standards at the School Age site
• Maintain positive relationships with YMCA personnel and school staff
• Assist in citywide policies and procedures
• Act as directed by the Site Director
