Job summary

The YMCA of Memphis and the Mid-South seeks a Club Y Advisor to support before- and after-school programs for middle school students, promoting safety, inclusion, and positive behavior through structured activities in leadership, arts, STEM, and SEL.

You will supervise participants, assist with homework, prepare snacks, maintain a nurturing environment, and partner with families while following DHS licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and pass background checks, drug screening, and DHS fingerprinting.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Willingness to accept supervision and guidance.
• Ability to manage children's behavior without physical contact or force.
• Must meet Tennessee DHS requirements.

Responsibilities

• Appropriately supervise children and participate in all aspects of the program.
• Observe behavior, enforce safety procedures, and apply behavior management techniques.
• Prepare daily snack and provide homework assistance.
• Assist in maintaining a safe, nurturing environment.
• Establish positive relationships with participants and families.
• Lead experiences in Art, Active Play & Sport, Music, Teen Leadership, STEM, and SEL for Y-CAP and Achievers.
• Utilize approved curriculums and project-based learning strategies.
• Ensure supervision and keep areas clean and safe.
