Qualifications

• Holds Tennessee teaching license with appropriate endorsements.
• Experience working with students with disabilities.
• Knowledge of Federal and State regulations regarding special education.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instructional and consultative services to eligible students with disabilities as specified in each student's IEP.
• Attend IEP-Team meetings to assist in determining eligibility for special education services and/or in developing IEPs and placement decisions.
• Consult with and advise general education teachers on accommodations and materials for students with disabilities.
• Conduct all required student assessments to determine eligibility for special education services.
• Administer data gathering assessments to guide instruction and discuss data with staff and parents.
• Develop and maintain student IEPs and required paperwork in a timely manner.
• Manage day-to-day operation of the classroom.
• Plan curriculum and lessons considering student needs, abilities, and learning styles.
• Maintain a disciplined, welcoming classroom environment.
• Participate in professional meetings and development activities.
• Maintain licensure and endorsements required for employment.
