Job summary

Murfreesboro City Schools is seeking a Comprehensive Development Teacher in the Special Education Department to support eligible students with disabilities, planning and delivering instructional services under IEPs.

The ideal candidate holds a Tennessee teaching license with appropriate endorsements, has experience with disabilities, and can collaborate with staff, parents, and administrators to provide compliant services.

Qualifications

• Holds Tennessee teaching license with endorsements.
• Must meet health, physical and background checks.
• Must have training/experience working with students with disabilities.
• Strong knowledge of Federal and State regulations on assessment, placement and services for eligible students with disabilities.
• Strong written and verbal presentation skills.
• License for services to children pre-school through sixth grade in the specialty area.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instructional and consultative services to eligible students with disabilities as per each student's IEP.
• Attend IEP-Team meetings to assist in determining eligibility for special education services and develop IEPs.
• Consult with general education teachers on needs of students with disabilities.
• Conduct all required student assessments per Federal, State, and Local regulations.
• Administer data gathering assessments to guide instruction and discuss data with staff/parents.
• Develop and maintain student IEPs and documentation in a timely manner.
• Manage day-to-day operation of the classroom.
• Plan curriculum and prepare lessons considering individual needs and styles.
• Maintain a disciplined and welcoming classroom environment.
• Participate in meetings and professional development activities.
• Maintain required endorsements and licensure for employment.
