Job summary

City of East Lansing invites applications for a full-time Mechanical Inspector/Inspections role within our Building Services division. The position requires five years of experience in skilled trades and inspections, and eligibility under PA 407 for registration as a mechanical inspector.

Preferred ICC certifications include Mechanical Inspector and Plan Reviewer; fire inspection experience is a plus. The work schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–5:00 pm.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma
• Five years of experience in skilled trades and inspections.
• An equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
• Must be eligible under PA 407 for registration as a mechanical inspector.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Certification by the ICC as Mechanical Inspector, Plan Reviewer.
• Certification as a fire inspector.
• Commercial/Industrial experience.
• Experience installing or inspecting fire suppression systems.
• Some college.
