The City of Lansing seeks an Electrical Inspector in the Building Safety division to ensure properties comply with Michigan Residential Code, National Electrical Code, and related state standards. This role applies code provisions, reviews plans, issues permits and conducts field inspections for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

The Building Safety division in the Economic, Development & Planning Department is seeking an Electrical Inspector to join their professional team. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in expanding their experience with Michigan Residential Code, National Electrical Code, related code standards established by State law, practical application of the theory of electricity as it applies to wiring, in addition to the use of tools, equipment and testing devices of the electrical trade. This position ensures that properties within the City of Lansing conform to pertinent electrical code.

Must meet minimum eligibility requirements in accordance with State Act #407 for registration as a Electrical Inspector and Plan Reviewer and make application for provisional registration for both these titles within thirty (30) days of notification of selection for this position. Registration as Electrical Inspector and Plan Reviewer must be retained during the entire length of employment in this position. FAILURE TO OBTAIN OR RETAIN BOTH OF THESE REGISTRATIONS WILL RESULT IN APPROPRIATE ACTION CONSISTENT WITH THE TEAMSTERS COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT AGREEMENT.
