Position Summary

The Inside Sales Specialist – Automotive is a customer-focused role that supports the Automotive business by managing day-to-day customer needs, quote requests, order processing, and follow-up activities. Acting as a key link between customers, Outside Sales, and internal teams, this position helps ensure inquiries are handled promptly, orders are processed accurately, and customers receive a high level of service from start to finish. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, responsive, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while contributing to strong customer relationships and overall business growth. Intermittent travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Support the sale of products by partnering with Outside Sales and/or Agents to increase sales by managing quote requests, sales leads, product promotions and analysis of sales data
• Could manage a minimum of 50 customer requests daily, including phone calls, e-mails, faxes, EDI and other forms of electronic communication
• Manage quote requests and analyze data supplied by our customer; and provide pricing and product availability in a timely fashion.
• Upon successful completion of training, empowered to make pricing decisions based on price guidelines, market feedback, and recommendations from Outside Sales
• Process orders from customers and acknowledge within posted guidelines for various Specialty markets as needed by the business
• Process customer returns and claims in a timely manner and initiate a corrective action if necessary
• Provide back-up assistance and coverage for other teams as needed
• Interface with various departments within the company, including Shipping, Scheduling, Quality, Manufacturing, Credit, Finance, Engineering, and Product Management, in order to meet the needs of the customer and to ensure timely delivery and accurate receipt of products
• Review and interpret customer specifications, applications, and terms and conditions with assistance from Engineering or Marketing
• Continuously develop product knowledge through internal and/or external training initiatives
• Participate in cross-functional projects impacting the department and the organization

Knowledge and skill requirements

• Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience
• Experience in sales, customer service, and/or account management
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to effectively use tools such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint to support daily business activities
• Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to review information accurately, identify issues, and support effective resolution
• Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand product functionality, specifications, and applications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and business priorities
• Strong organizational, time management, multitasking, and follow-up skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively

• Knowledge of EDI and ERP systems, such as SAP or AS/400 Mainframe, is considered an asset
