Job Summary

Trane in Columbia, SC is hiring an Inside Sales Specialist. As an Inside Sales Specialist, you will support our outside sales team within the district. You will be responsible for strengthening communication, selling, negotiation, and technical skills to transition to outside sales, if desired. This includes sales support from inquiry to delivery, involving equipment identification, quoting, order confirmation/purchase, pricing, order processing, expediting, and problem solving. Inside sales focuses on cold-calling, inactive accounts, lower volume purchasers, and providing quotes. More experienced specialists may support outside sales with lead generation, market intelligence, and customer contact. Senior specialists may handle complex orders or projects requiring external coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a key contact to customers for the complete sales cycle from quote to delivery.
  • Contact current and potential customers to generate sales.
  • Develop, sell, and convert accounts to recurring revenue service contracts.
  • Maintain all paperwork, purchase orders, rental agreements, and reports to respond to inquiries and meet internal requirements.
  • Manage inventory levels and ensure error-free order processing.
  • Mentor peers and share best practices as needed.

Qualifications

  • Customer service and inside sales experience preferred. Ability to understand needs, solve problems, and respond efficiently.
  • Strong organizational, time management, communication, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Comfortable with computers and technology.
  • HVAC experience preferred but not required.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.

Compensation

Total compensation includes a commission/incentive plan. Actual pay may vary based on seniority, merit, and location.
