Manufacturers Reserve Supply (MRS) in Irvington, NJ, seeks an Inside Sales Manager to lead the five-person team and deliver outstanding customer service while growing business in the building materials industry.

The role reports to the President and focuses on team development, cross-department collaboration, and strategic sales initiatives to strengthen MRS’s market position in the territory.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3+ years related experience in Customer Service/Sales.
• Minimum of 3+ years in a leadership/management capacity overseeing at least two employees.
• Proficiency in MS Office/Excel and ERP/Inventory Management systems.
• Must possess a high attention to detail and have a professional phone demeanor.
• A positive, energetic personality and a genuine passion for developing people.
• Excellent time management, organizational skills, teamwork and communication.
• Must learn quickly and be self-motivated.
• Experience in the building materials industry is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of transportation, logistics or truck dispatching is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Outside Sales, Operations and Purchasing to ensure smooth orders and deliveries.
• Manage online ordering processes and store portals.
• Coordinate with Dispatch for timely deliveries and optimize routes.
• Lead monthly sales meetings and keep the team updated on products.
• Identify new opportunities and processes to enhance sales performance.
• Monitor market conditions to reflect MRS’s mission and culture in team work.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Manufacturers Reserve Supply (MRS) is seeking a Manager to oversee our Inside Sales Team & ensure that we provide unparalleled customer service and support to our customer base. As a leader in the Building Materials Industry for over 95 years, we seek a candidate with strong leadership skills to ensure our Inside Sales Team is the “best of the best”. The candidate must possess a strong eye for detail, have an ability to manage multiple priorities at one time & be self-driven. This role is about building a team, delivering customer service that our customers can’t find anywhere else, and solving problems with confidence and a positive attitude. This position will report directly to the President & will assist in implementing new ideas & processes that strengthen MRS’s impact in our territory.

What You'll Do

• Build a great team. Coach, mentor, train, and motivate a team of five, creating a supportive collaborative culture with growth in knowledge and skills.
• Deliver the best customer service. Set the standard for every customer interaction and make sure every call leaves the customer feeling valued and taken care of.
• Bring positive energy. Lead by example with an upbeat, can-do attitude that keeps the team focused and engaged.
• Solve problems. Make clear, timely decisions on customer issues and pricing, and find creative solutions when challenges come up.
• Grow the business. Expand customer relationships, increase average order size through cross-selling and add-on materials, and help develop new business opportunities.
• Partner across teams. Work closely with our Outside Sales Team, Operations, Purchasing and other departments to close business and keep orders and deliveries running smoothly.
• Online Sales: Manage our online ordering systems and processes. Help with specialty store portals and simplify processes.
• Dispatch and Transportation: Work closely with dispatch for timely and productive deliveries.
• Keep the team sharp. Build strong product knowledge across the team, and lead monthly sales meetings.
• Strategic Thinking. Look for new opportunities for development, new processes and sales.
• Stay informed. Keep an eye on market conditions and competitors, and make sure the team's work reflects MRS's mission, vision, and culture.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of 3+ years related experience in Customer Service/Sales
• Minimum of 3+ years in a leadership/management capacity overseeing at least two employees
• Proficiency of MS Office/Excel and experience using ERP/ Inventory Management systems
• Must possess a high attention to detail and have a professional and polished phone demeanor
• A positive, energetic personality and a genuine passion for developing people.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills, must be a team player, have a collaborative personality and excellent written and oral communication skills
• Must be able to learn quickly and be self-motivated
• Prior experience within the building materials industry is preferred but not required
• Knowledge of transportation, logistics or truck dispatching a plus

EDUCATION

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Bachelor’s Degree a plus
• Must possess a strong aptitude for Algebra and Mathematics

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee can expect prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and using a telephone and computer
• The employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear; stand frequently; walk; use hands to finger, feel and handle objects; and reach with hands and arms
• Must be able to reach, bend and pull in order to access filing cabinet drawers, storage spaces and operate copy machines
• Must have the manual dexterity to file and use a computer keyboard, calculator and telephone
• May occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 lbs.
