Job summary

S&L Food Sales, a Chico-based wholesale distributor serving independent restaurants, grocers, and other foodservice operators, seeks an Inside Sales & Customer Service Representative. You’ll be the voice of S&L to customers, handling orders, sourcing products, resolving issues, and identifying growth opportunities while collaborating with Outside Sales, Purchasing, and the Sales Manager.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication with a customer-service focus.
• Ability to manage a large book of business while staying organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Math proficiency at a high school algebra level for pricing evaluation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Deliver best-in-class service to every S&L customer.
• Assist customers with order entry, product sourcing, pricing questions, and resolution of complaints or service issues.
• Use sales and ordering data to identify at-risk business, recapture lost sales, and uncover growth opportunities.
• Promote relevant products through weekly ad specials, monthly promotions, and thoughtful upselling.
• Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure special-order products are sourced and delivered accurately and on time.
• Maintain customer standard-order files and provide accurate, timely order forms.
• Partner with Outside Sales Representatives to strengthen customer relationships and expand product lines.
• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of S&L products, services, programs, and internal systems.
• Participate in occasional sales ride-along, sales meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.
