Job summary

MacArthur Co is a 100% employee-owned distributor of building materials in Madison, AL, seeking an Inside Sales professional to connect our outside sales team with customers and process orders accurately.

You will build relationships, understand product lines, and support a fast-paced operation while maintaining high-quality, by-the-book results. Prior inside sales and customer service experience is preferred, with knowledge of construction products helpful.

Qualifications

• A few years of inside sales and customer service experience.
• Knowledge of roofing, mechanical, industrial, HVAC, and siding products is helpful.
• Experience in the construction industry is beneficial.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) is expected.
• Strong communication and attention to detail are essential.
• Be a team player who can lead when needed.

Responsibilities

• Support the daily sales operations of a building materials distribution center.
• Build solid relationships with customers and co-workers based on trust and competence.
• Diagnose problems and provide proven solutions.
• Follow up with customers to preserve relationships.
• Support outside sales team members.
• Work closely with long-term customers daily.
• Oversee fulfillment of customer orders and ensure accuracy.
• Contribute in area of expertise to ensure high-quality results.

As Inside Sales, you will be an enthusiastic connector between our outside sales team and our customers. The focus of this job is making connections with people, building an understanding of our products and culture, and ensuring customer orders are processed accurately. An ideal candidate will work best in a fast-paced environment where results need to be shared and effectively delegated when necessary.

Responsibilities:

• Support the daily sales operations of a building materials distribution center
• Work with customers and co-workers to build solid relationships based on trust and competence
• Thorough and precise; diagnose problems and provided proven solutions
• Following up carefully and cheerfully with customers to ensure the preservation of relationships
• Support outside sales team members
• Directly work with long-term customers daily
• Finalize and oversee the fulfillment of customer orders
• Opportunity to work within own area of expertise to ensure high-quality, by-the-book results
• Able to handle detailed work quickly & correctly
• Support a fast-paced environment with multiple projects going on simultaneously

Job Requirements:

• Ideal candidates have a few years of inside sales & customer service experience
• Roofing, mechanical, industrial, HVAC, and siding product knowledge, and experience preferred
• Experience in the construction industry is helpful
• Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
• Strong communication skills
• Detail-oriented and focused; can concentrate on the task at hand for long periods
• Persuasive teaching style to communicate the company's products and services
• Follow established guidelines, structure, and policies, while working with and for others
• Be a team player who isn’t afraid of leading
• Willing to jump in and roll up your sleeves to help out when necessary
