Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year handling low/moderate complexity property claims or related experience.
  • Active P&C adjuster license or ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • Experience with Xactimate, Claim X, Hover, and Guidewire.
  • Must demonstrate negotiation, investigation, and communication skills.

Job description

  • Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle low to moderate complexity property insurance claims
  • Confirm and analyze coverage, recognize liability exposure, and negotiate equitable settlements in compliance with state regulatory requirements
  • Manage an assigned claims caseload
  • Partner with vendors, internal business partners, and external regulators to facilitate claim resolution and compliance
  • Investigate claim damages using information from insureds, third parties, and external resources
  • Identify discrepancies and subrogation potential
  • Identify coverage concerns, review prior loss history, and create SIU referrals when appropriate
  • Determine coverage based on investigation information, policy terms, and contingencies
  • Coordinate with management on settlement amounts outside authority limits
  • Maintain accurate and current claim file documentation
  • Use estimating technology platforms and virtual inspection tools to prepare and manage claims estimates
  • Address jurisdictional challenges, legislation, and construction considerations
  • Support workload surges and CAT response operations, including mandatory on-call dates and potential evening, weekend, and holiday work
  • Travel for CAT deployments with minimal notice when assigned
  • Handle various claim types, including higher-complexity claims, and perform additional duties as needed
  • Identify, measure, monitor, and control risks in accordance with risk and compliance policies
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
  • 1 year of experience handling low complexity property claims and/or customer service, military leadership, construction related industry/insurance experience
  • Knowledge of estimating losses using Xactimate or similar tools and platforms
  • Demonstrated negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Working knowledge and understanding of claims contracts as well as application of case law and state laws and regulations
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task, including navigating through multiple business applications
  • May need to travel up to 25% of the year (local & non-local) and/or work catastrophe duty when needed
  • Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days and 3 attempts
  • 1+ years of residential property adjusting of moderate complexity claims
  • 1+ years of estimate writing skills using Xactimate or virtual estimating (i.e. Claim X, Hover, and Hosta)
  • Experience handling claims from start to finish (FNOL, reviewing policy, making coverage decisions, settlement)
  • Experience scoping the loss, assessing damages, interpreting policy and making claim decisions
  • Experience on a Property Catastrophe team handling inside or field claims (i.e. wind, hail, hurricane, flooding)
  • Experience working in Guidewire Claims Center
  • Knowledge of homeowner property policies and endorsements
  • Currently hold an active P&C Adjuster license
  • Prior experience working directly for a standard insurance carrier
  • Call center experience in a telephone concentrated environment
  • Ability to work overtime and extended hours to support CAT claims
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner
  • Must not require immigration support or visa sponsorship
  • Licensed positions require a background check, including criminal history, education, employment verification, and a credit check consistent with applicable laws
