Job summary

The Fletcher School is seeking an Upper School Science Teacher to join our independent K-12 program in Charlotte, NC. The ideal candidate will design inquiry-based science instruction, integrate technology, and differentiate learning to meet diverse student needs.

As a full-time exempt employee, you will collaborate with a Grade Level team, maintain progress records, and communicate with families to support each student’s academic potential.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in education or sciences from an accredited institution.
• 3–5 years of experience teaching science using inquiry-based methods.
• Knowledge of laboratory setup, organization, and implementation.
• Training or experience in Special Education preferred; Orton-Gillingham Associate level or above.
• Willingness to obtain Apple Teacher certification and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver structured, multisensory science lessons aligned to NC standards.
• Collaborate with grade-level teams to optimize student outcomes.
• Differentiate instruction using technology and diverse learning styles.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and advise up to six students.
• Participate in grade-level and parent meetings and communicate progress regularly.
• Create a well-managed classroom with clear rules and engaging activities.
