Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Valid NC Teaching certification or eligible for NC Teaching certification.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Adhere to the North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards.
• Assist administration in implementing school policies and rules; establish classroom behavior expectations.
• Create a culture of effectiveness by setting high standards and expectations for all students
• Plan and implement a program of study in the assigned content area
• Instruct students individually and in groups using various teaching methods
• Create a classroom environment that engages students and meets learning objectives
• Establish learning objectives based on standards and district framework
• Prepare for classes and provide evidence of preparation on request
• Diagnose learning challenges and maintain records for IEPs and 504 plans
• Provide instructional programs to meet needs of all students including those with disabilities
• Prepare materials and classrooms for activities
• Encourage student perseverance and learning opportunities
• Use strategies promoting critical and creative thinking
• Administer and grade tests to assess progress
• Meet with parents/guardians to discuss progress and priorities
• Prepare enrichment and remediation programs
• Participate in PLCs and instructional planning
• Engage in professional development to improve skills and knowledge
• Conduct safety drills and maintain safe learning environment
• Perform related work as assigned
