Job summary

The Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University seeks an Inpatient Medicine Veterinary Technician II to deliver complex nursing care, assist in teaching, and support clinical and research activities in a busy hospital environment.

This essential role requires strong veterinary technical skills, the ability to work in a high-volume setting, and collaboration with clinicians, students, and staff. Schedule: Wednesday–Saturday, 9p–6a, with holiday coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's in veterinary tech/science in AVMA-accredited program.
• 3 years of experience as a veterinary technician in a fast-paced hospital.
• Experience at university hospital or large-scale hospital preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care and manage treatment plans with clinicians.
• Instruct veterinary students and technicians in technical patient care skills.
• Maintain inventory of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals; handle controlled substances.
• Assist in training and mentoring new Veterinary Technicians and Animal Care Attendants.
• Support research activities and review discharge instructions with clients.
