Job summary

The clinical nurse at UCI Health will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients. This role performs professional nursing duties and supports the patient/family throughout the continuum of care, evaluating outcomes and readiness for discharge.

The incumbent will act as a role model and mentor to students and new nurses on the unit, and may serve as a Patient Care Coordinator as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years recent telemetry experience.
Minimum of 2 years recent inpatient clinical nursing experience in adult acute care.
All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast paced, constantly changing environment.
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients.
Assess, plan, intervene and advocate for the patient throughout the continuum of care.
Evaluate patient outcomes, effectiveness of plan of care, and readiness for discharge with referrals as needed.
Act as a role model and mentor to students and nurses new to the unit.
Function as a Patient Care Coordinator as requested by the supervisor/manager.
