Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking an Inpatient Nursing Shift House Supervisor to oversee nursing activities on shift and serve as the on-site administrative and clinical resource for the hospital during off-hours.

This leadership role hires and trains staff, conducts performance reviews, enforces licensure requirements, and supports quality and safety initiatives across inpatient units in a fast-paced academic medical center.

Qualifications

• BSN required.
• RN license issued by the state of California.
• Current BART/ART or BLS/CPR and/or ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get AART within six months of hire date.
• Five+ years of relevant experience, including at least three years of recent RN experience in acute care.
• Must have recent nursing supervisory/management experience.

Responsibilities

• Holds responsibility for nursing activities on shift and acts as on-site admin during off hours.
• Hires, screens, interviews and trains staff; conducts annual performance appraisals.
• Supports quality of care activities, safety programs, and adherence to ethics and licensure standards.
• Interacts with nurse managers, charge nurses and staff to plan on-shift and incoming staff coverage.
