Job summary

Carlsbad Medical Center is seeking an RN House Supervisor to provide leadership and oversight of hospital operations during assigned shifts. You will support nursing teams across departments, coordinate patient flow, and act as a key resource during emergencies and critical situations.

The role requires strong clinical leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to ensure safety and quality in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• RN license required.
• 1–2 years of leadership experience preferred.
• Associate Degree or higher in Nursing required or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Oversee hospital operations during assigned shifts and ensure adequate staffing across departments.
• Monitor census, admissions, discharges, and bed utilization.
• Serve as administrative point of contact during non-business hours and emergencies.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate resources for safe patient care.
• Act as incident commander in disasters until relieved by a senior leader.
• Provide clinical guidance and supervision to nursing staff; ensure safe care delivery.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards and address deviations.
• Handle patient and family inquiries with professionalism and resolve issues as appropriate.
• Complete and validate midnight census and report bed status accurately.
• Lead rounds to assess needs and ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Foster collaboration between staff, physicians, and administration for operational efficiency.
• Provide decision-making support in the absence of managers and escalate critical issues as needed.
• Identify opportunities for performance improvement and implement care-delivery enhancements.
• Monitor resource availability and ensure staff have necessary tools.
