Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Staff Nurse Inpatient at 0.6 FTE on 12-hour shifts to deliver and coordinate care for acutely ill patients. You will apply the nursing process, collaborate with the care team, and document outcomes in the health record.

Responsibilities include assessing data, planning and implementing individualized care, directing support staff, and engaging in shared governance. Illinois RN license and BSN/ADN pathway required; benefits provided.

Qualifications

• BSN or ADN with commitment to obtain BSN within three years of employment in clinical nurse role.
• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
• Strong analytic abilities, with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Collects and analyzes data, identifies expected outcomes, develops and implements an individualized plan, coordinates care delivery and evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
• Directs care and determines the appropriate utilization of any assistant involved in providing direct patient care.
• Collaborates with patient, family, physicians and ancillary staff. Creates a documented plan focused on outcomes and communications.
• Participates in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
• Evaluates and documents the patient’s responses to nursing interventions and personalizes the plan of care.
• Uses evidence-based practice to guide nursing decisions.
