Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center seeks a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for Inpatient Psychiatry at William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital. The role functions as the pharmacy expert on the interdisciplinary team, leading initiatives, educating staff, and precepting residents and students.

The incumbent rounds on the Inpatient Psychiatry service, evaluates therapy, and collaborates with providers to optimize outcomes and safety. Strong teaching and leadership skills are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of PGY1 and PGY2 residency programs (ASHP-accredited).
• Experience in inpatient psychiatry within a clinical pharmacy role.
• Eligible for Texas licensure and BLS/ACLS prerequisites for inpatient service.

Responsibilities

• Provide pharmaceutical care on inpatient psychiatry service, rounding on patients.
• Monitor and optimize drug therapy for safety and effectiveness.
• Educate and precept pharmacy residents and students.
• Lead quality initiatives, develop policies, and participate in P&T activities.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to support patient outcomes.

Education

ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency

ASHP-accredited PGY2 residency

PGY1 with 5 years clinical practice

Bachelor's Degree of Science or PharmD (ACPE)

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) (ACPE)

5 years progressive clinical practice in specialty (with PGY1)

8 years progressive clinical practice in specialty

TSBP licensure eligibility and TX license within 30 days

BLS certification

ACLS certification (for inpatient positions)
