Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a motivated Clinical Laboratory Technician to join our Duke Health laboratories at Duke University Hospital. You will perform routine and specialized procedures, handle specimen collection, processing, and analysis, and support timely, accurate results for patient care.

The role requires basic phlebotomy techniques, good communication with patients and staff, and familiarity with clinical lab information systems.

Qualifications

• Basic phlebotomy and specimen processing techniques.
• Knowledge of medical terms preferred.
• Basic computer skills and good communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures.
• Prepare and initiate special tests and procedures including cytogenetics, urinalysis, phlebotomy, and specimen management.
• Obtain total volume, perform aliquot and distribute urine specimens.
• Label aliquot containers and properly identify urine volume.
• Communicate with patients and staff professionally for problem resolution.
• Maintain laboratory records and perform order entry as required.
• Conduct quality control, safety, and infection control procedures.
• Receive and process specimens and circulate them to the appropriate staff.
